Planning Design have been successful in securing another planning consent in Walkeringham in the District of Bassetlaw,
We were approached by the owners of the grazing land with a view to securing outline planning permission for residential development. Although the site lay outside of the Walkeringham development boundary identified in the Bassetlaw Local Plan, the Council was unable to demonstrate a 5 year supply of deliverable housing sites as required by the NPPF. Planning Design therefore prepared a case based around the presumption in favour of sustainable development.
An illustrative layout was prepared which showed a mixture of housing types to complement the existing stock in the village. The layout demonstrated that a high quality development sensitive to its landscape and built context could be provided on the site.
Bassetlaw’s planning committee initially resolved to refuse the application against the advice of its officers. However, following the submission of a further statement rebutting the committee’s concerns it was resolved that the scheme be approved at the February meeting.
