We were instructed by the landowner to prepare an outline planning application for residential development on the edge Doveridge, which is an attracted village in the District of Derbyshire Dales.
The illustrative site layout was informed by a rigorous design process and exhibits key urban design principles. The proposal provided a range of property types which included a number of bungalows and smaller starter homes. The sustainable urban drainage scheme was integrated into the design so that it not only managed all of the surface water run-off on-site but also provided a key amenity and place making feature. In adopting a transition buffer a number of important veteran trees were retained and created an appropriate entrance to the village with a soft transition from countryside to built development.
