Planning Design designed and secured planning consent for a sympathetic three storey extension and re-use scheme at the Olde Englishe Hotel in the Matlock Bridge Conservation Area, on behalf of local developer Barncroft Homes. The extension, which picks up on the distinctive Baronial detailing of this landmark building at the entrance to Matlock, has blended seamlessly with the original structure. The new uses, which include a pub, apartments and training school, have breathed new life into the once run-down premises. Planning Design subsequently helped to secure planning consent for the modern building behind the Olde Englishe known as Parkside. The building, designed by Matlock-based Architects Evans Vettori and incorporating riverside apartments and the popular ‘Cool River Café’, has been the subject of numerous architectural awards.
